   Introduction


Acer Campetre - Acer Pseudoplatanus - Acer Platanoides
Hardwood specie, maple can be found in all northern half of France: their total planted area reaches 59.000 ha.
These are tall trees (30 meters), with medium growth. Their trunks are very cylindrical.
They can be cut at approximately 80 years old.

Wood description
Sawn timber shows a white wood, sometimes slightly yellowish. Sapwood is not distinctive.


Preservation
Maple can be easily treated.
Once impregnated, it can be used in class 4 ( timber in contact with non-salty water ).

Conditions of implementation



Main uses
Maple is mainly used for joinery, interior fitting, veneer, furniture, flooring, turned pieces and marquetry.

Figures given at 12% moisture content
(straight-grain timber and free from defects)
