Chestnut covers 490.000 ha, mainly in the Southern half of France. This tree has a big trunk ( up to 1 meter diameter) and short lengtht (30 meters), it growths fairly quickly.
Wood description
Its yellowish white sapwood is distinct from its brown heartwood. Chestnut is straight-grained with a medium texture.
Preservation
Chestnut is naturally resistant. It is easily impregnable.
This allows him a resistance in Class 4.
It can be used for exteriors, in contact with water.
